Since you had ongoing problems it could be an actual problem not related to the things you changed. I would still suspect the timing belt, coil and distributor related pieces. Since you experienced a period of low power I would look real close at the timing gear.
On second thought the carburator could have a problem and maybe should be taken apart and cleaned.
