I have a '46 2-ton Chevy with the original 235. It usually runs well, but once in a while it will cough and when it does, it jambs the choke shut. Instead of the knob popping out from the dash, the wire in the cable will kink near the carb. I have thought of a way to hook up the cable so this won't be an issue, but I also wonder what could be causing this to happen in the first place. The carb was recently rebuilt and I have had issues with the manifolds loosening up on it. When it's not doing this, it runs really well and has a surprising amount of power. It usually happens when the engine is not yet up to full operating temperature, and maybe that's normal, but I thought it might be wise to see of there could be some other problem that needs fixing.
