the frame vin stamp did not start until 55.2 on Chevs, although apparently some early GMCs had a number stamped into the outside of the pass side frame rail front horn

spanner, wasn't there a whole thread of folks telling you about your truck from pictures you posted? th only thing the engine number tells you is that engine is a 270
