Forgot to answer a couple of questions...
1.) The location in the head above #2 is where the pipe plug I referred to is located. My temp sending unit is located on the t-stat housing.
2.) I don't know if the old fan will have to come off or not since I only ordered the parts from Summit this morning, but I don't think that it will unless my tape measure lied (which it has done before).
