Yes, they changed. The early versions used the big truck grille that was mounted to the frame. The later versions used a different small truck grille that was mounted to the sheetmetal. I can't remember the exact year break...I think the late '47-49 and then '50 and later. I'm sure someone else will chime in with an exact year.
