Yes, That's true of a lot of the books and info out there. Plenty of poorly researched, hearsay based misinformation...
But, and this is just for general interest, the '46-'72 Chassis and Body Parts Catalog 1/2 ton thru 1 ton Trucks Series 10-20-30 that I referenced is The GM Issued parts book that every Chevy Dealer in the country had in it's parts department. I pretty much take what it contains as gospel. Every restorer or enthusiast should have one, it makes for interesting reading.
The MSA-1 books have always been correct in my experience and I recommend them to anyone too. They're especially handy when id'ing used parts or whatever is bolted in your vehicle, probably more so for cars, but the suffixes and casting numbers for all of my K's, for example, have been right on the money.
Getting the details right is what makes this hobby fun for me. Good Luck with everyone's projects!
