The wire will be connected to the back of your mast jacket bushing & should be fed down the steering column. I don't believe the hole is large enough for the connector so you'll probably have to solder it on after pulling the wire tip through the hole.
Oops, Kip & I posted at the same time. If the hole is that large the connector might just fit through it. It looks like Kip has done this before and will be able to give you first hand info.
