Knock could very well be a ping,as described by SIR Bartamos. There is also an octane regulator,on your distributor. If your octane is too low,you will also get a ping,usually occuring,as you describe,at a higher R.P.M.,or under load. Rod knock USUALLY quiets down,under load,(accelleration). Get out a broom handle,or length of garden hose,and use as a stethoscope,just like Bartamos suggested.Hopefully,this is just a timing issue,or up grade your fuel. Hope this helps.
