Is that before you installed it, or after you installed it and ran the engine?
What is the brand and part number of the repair sleeve that you used? I used one yesterday on a 270 GMC engine. There was no need to be concerned about the groove in the balancer because the sleeve covered the surface from the back to the pulley (I'll post the brand and part number tomorrow). The sleeve came with the seal and it was the same size as a regular seal.
