The shop manual lists two numbers... 35PSI as the relief set point on the pump, but the specification page lists 45 PSI for the 235.
Most modern screw on filters will bypass at about 60psi (generally 4-5000RPMs).
I'd still run a bypass filter. To be 'proper' for the era a Frantz filter would be more correct than AMSoil
