Somewhat connected to this discussion of filters is what we did back in 1961 and probably earlier.

As a teenager, I worked at a gas station in Poulsbo that did lube/oil/etc. It was standard practice at our station to change the oil filter every other oil change. Remember the stickers on the door post keeping track of this? When I got "rich", I started changing my filter ('51 Chevy bypass type) every oil change.
