Yeah, problem was that there was no pilot bushing at all. That also answers why there was such a rattling noise when the engine ran. I guess they took this engine out of a GMC truck that had an automatic tranny and put it in my truck and hook up the manual tranny to it without any pilot bushing in place. When I opened up the tranny the needle bearings were all chewed up and the end brass piece of the synchro was coming apart.
