I put a Stant #13358 in the truck, with a big 1/8" or so hole in it to flow some water when closed. Seems to be working so far; no big temp spike. It stayed at 175-185 like it should. I might try another one now without a hole (or with a small hole), if I do I'll report my results.

As a side note, I warmed up my other truck with an old brass 180 with no hole, which of course worked perfectly, as usual.
