Are you talking about the shield that goes over the rubber
mount? that should have a 7/16" hole in it with just enough
clearance for the 7/16" bolt to go thru. The original inner
bolts were swaged into the front plate from the bottom and were
not meant to come out. Are the "carrage bolts" that you're
using the hardware store variety of are they the original ones?
