I found on my truck, I could stop with a light foot and never turn on the brake lights, so I installed a heavy micro switch to the pedal assembly which turns on the lights as soon as the pedal moves. I have read on the HAMB web site about brake switches and pressures. Seems there are different pressure switches which react to higher or lower pressures. Most thought the low pressure switches worked quicker but don't last very long due to higher pressures required for disk / drum setups. The high pressure switches last longer but take a heavy foot to trigger them. The best way was pedal mounted switches which work with movement. No matter how easy or hard you are on the pedal, the slightest movement activates the lights. I installed two pressure switches on mine before switching over, I thought the first one was bad since I could stop with out activating it.
