Early plate w/o the notch is 1947 to late 48 as near as I can tell by 49 they were using the notch. Denny the picture you posted was from an early 49' 5-window Deluxe 3100 I owned. Very original and well-optioned truck. I agree this was a running fix I am sure based on customer complaints.
