Hey truckolet. I'm actually in the middle of a big block swap along with a clark OD tranny at the moment. should be complete in a month or two. I'm using the stock gear ratio for now. But with the OD it will do highway speeds no problem. Hard to seriously talk about fuel economy in a large truck with a big block. But i imagine it will be very similar to what I was getting with my old six.
