the best you could do without a lot of changes would be a 235 up to '62 - maybe more dependable, certainly easier to get parts for, not really much more power .... the big problem for "go" is the 4.57 [5.14?] rear gears the 3/4T has, but the bigger problem is "stop" with the old brakes .... like I said, hook up the trailer and give it a test, 1800# isn't light
