Greetings all,
I am trying to decide which direction to go with my '53 3603 with a 216 cu in. It is all original (I knew the previous owners) with 61,400 original miles. The engine was rebuilt about 20 years ago, but since then the vehicle has only been driven about 8,000 miles. It was a farm vehicle and used mostly between the fields and the storage building. This truck is in pristine condition for its age--no rust anywhere. I am at a point where I need to decide if I should replace the existing engine with a newer 6 inline, or should I deflower the old gal and install a V8? I will be using the vehicle as a daily driver and as a tow vehicle for a vintage camping trailer. My wife and I would like to take extended trips while towing our trailer. But, we also want to feel confident that we can get back home. Should we have trouble on the road, we want to get replacement parts easily. What are your opinions and advice on this topic.
