All great comments. As I said initially, I was lucky enough to get a Suburban in really good shape that had spent its life in a dessert like climate. I think it would be a shame to just use it and hope for best without doing something to preserve it.
Being in the Army, preventative maintenance is always drilled into you. I know the vacuuming my sound nuts, but a few hours every 6 months spend protecting my investment would be well worth it. I may not go that far, but I do want to capture all the good ideas that I can use to keep it in good shape.
