All 235 engines can use the same type of by-pass oil filter. Only 1958-63 USA 261 truck engines had a full-flow oil filtration system.
You can use the original optional/accessory canister/cartridge filtration system; or, you could use a spin-on filter and a remote filter head, as long as there is a restriction in the input line to the filter head. Wait to hear what diameter input restriction hole is suggested - I think I have read that a 1/8" hole is small enough.
