The bearings that I have in my rear end have been there untouched for 6+ years with over 10,000+ miles on them. I have not had any issues.
I am sure that if you install these in your truck and follow all of the installation directions for pre-loading, you too will have many many miles of trouble-free driving.
If anything, the roller type bearings should perform better since any point load applied to the races are distributed over a greater area thus reducing wear at the point of contact. Just like installing roller bearings in the front wheels versus the original style.
In the end, the bearing folks have thousands of hours in research and testing. If the original barrel type bearings performed better, you'd be able to find them.....
