I don't believe so. I believe that the inside hole of the NAPA bushing is the same size as the hole in your '54 cylinder head. The bushing was to allow an earlier model temp gauge probe to be used in a later model head that has a larger hole for the probe.

Might ask another 'Bolter who has more experience than I do.
