I have a 1948 3/4 ton chevy truck that came with the split rims. since none of the tire shops felt safe with them I wanted to change them out. the originals were 15 inch and i wanted 16's. I was just trying to get the truck on the highway and not spend a lot on the wheels just yet. I ended up buying from etrailer steel wheels with 8 lugs , the wheels were the 16x6 ( black steel trailer wheels) and i put cooper radials on that were not too wide. the tires missed the tie rods by about 1/4 to 1/2 ( we had to put the lead weights on the outside of the wheel) inch but so far no rub or problem after about 500 miles. these wheels were something like 70 each, but I understand that stockton wheel will custom make wheels for you. hope this helps.
