The 228 flywheel will have a 6 volt ring gear. The 235 could have the 168 tooth 12 volt ring gear.
The 6 volt and 12 volt starters will bolt up to the bellhousing without issue. Just have to make sure you have the correct flywheel ring gear. A 6 volt starter will run fine on 12 volts, but a 12 volt starter will not run on 6 volts. | | |
