| | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 1,897 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 1,897 | Starters will also interchange as long as we are talking 6 volt to 6 volt or 12 volt to 12 volt. The 228 flywheel will have a 6 volt ring gear. The 235 could have the 168 tooth 12 volt ring gear.
The 6 volt and 12 volt starters will bolt up to the bellhousing without issue. Just have to make sure you have the correct flywheel ring gear. A 6 volt starter will run fine on 12 volts, but a 12 volt starter will not run on 6 volts. | | |
