The relocation plate centers the water pump more accurately to the radiator. You should not have any overheating problems with the relocation plate. I did not and I bet others here never had a problem either. This is assuming your radiator is in good working condition.I think the mainifold number would be 3835627, not 38s. My parts book only goes to 1951, so I don't have that number.
