The location of the head date casting code is under the valve cover.
You have already given the block date:
D = April
24 = 24th
2 = 1962
F0606J
F = Flint, MI
06 = April oops, June
06 = 6th
J = Regular production truck engine (3100 - 3200 - 3800)
Maybe someone else will comment/correct/clarify the April 6th engine assembly date with an April 24th block casting date? ignored this - see correction, below - I have to learn to be more careful counting on my fingers
