Don't go out and buy new gauges yet. The only gauge that might get destroyed is your fuel gauge. It needs a good resistor such as the infamous Runtz which is readily available. The only other common item that would need a resistor is your 6 v heater.
There are many threads available concerning the fuel gauge and how to trouble shoot it. Who knows, it's very possible that it still works. Install a Runtz then recheck for good grounding, etc. I originally thought I burnt my gauge during my conversion, bought another one and then started reading the threads only to find I just needed to check for good grounding. Now my purchased fuel gauge has been added to my ever growing compost pile of parts
