#86158 05/05/2005 4:31 PM | Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 124 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 124 | Wiring is simple.....The wires from the BATT wire of the old regulator go to the 10/32 stud on the back of the alternator marked BATT. The red wire of the DA Plug also goes to that same stud, it is there to tell the internal regulator what to do. The yellow wire goes to the positive post of the ignition coil. Tape all of the remaining wire back in the harness and they will be there if someone wants to restore everything someday....
As for the ignition coil most will say on the coil no external ballast resistor required. I use the Echlin IC64 which are very reliable and DO NOT need an external ballast resistor which is the weak link in the original ignition system. THat is why most people carried a spare in the glove box in the old days.
