The antenna was normally installed on the cowl on the driver's side. If you have the stock-type antenna, there is a bracket under the dash that attaches to the side panel. The hole for the self-tapping screw ("L" in the drawing below) was drilled at the factory.
The hood does not hit the antenna in this location.
