I am running 650-16 bias-ply at 28 psi. Nice ride and even tire wear. I recall as a kid all tire sizes (no radials then) seemed to warrant 28 psi. When radials came along we were surprised to have to bump them up to 30+ psi.
Bias-ply will wander in ruts or grooves. I have Firestone on my 49 and as I have written before I love them. They are new and the compound is much different to the old bias-ply. They do not flat spot and run very smoothly at speeds up to 55. Don't know above that as I have not tried it.
