If I remember accurately, the numbers will only advance when the drive gear to the odometer is turning. I dont think they will advance if you turn the numbers themselves. set the odometer to your mileage by turning each number wheel, reinstall it in the speedo, and try turning the input to the speedo where the cable goes in. this should help, write back if I am way off, or if it works.
