To add a little to what 4onthefloor said;
If your converting to 12 volts, the DA Plug, also eliminates the need for the stock voltage regulator up on your fire wall.
The wire that went to the Battery terminal on the voltage regulator, now attaches to the alternator and the 6 volt regulator and the other wires attached to it, no longer need to be used.
I just converted my truck using this method. Note, the wires I no longer needed to use; I did keep in the harness, just in case I or someone else ever wanted to go back to completely stock.
