You don't have to do that if you wire up your ignition switch properly. There are three terminals on the stock AD switch, they all get shorted together when you turn the key. Just make sure that the battery and alternator are on the same post and that the ignition system is on one by itself. I run my alternator with no DA plug at all, just insulated spade lugs on the wires to the pins in the alternator.
