OK, here is what holds an ignition switch on a 46 together; there are little indentations on the switch that hold the plastic inside the switch. I pushed out the indents with a screw driver and the guts of the switch came out. The original wire is held into place with solder and crimping as well as a crimp to hold the wire in place without placing any stress on the the connection. I soldered a new wire on and put it back together. Now I need to bench test it to make sure it is all working right before install.
