Ok... . All engines have external oil filters.
What I learned in auto shop years ago was that if you have an engine without an oil filter , use the non-detergent oil. If you have an oil filter use the detergent oil. The non-detergent oil will collect debris and it will settle in the bottom of the pan, while detergent oil will foam/suspend particles and circulate through the oil filter and trap it there.
