283 is a good motor, decent fuel economy if built right, keeps your truck original, probably has a forged crank and will last for years and years. A 283 or 327 with an overdrive transmission will get phenominal gas mileage with a spreadbore carburetor. If you're going to be towing or hauling heavy loads then go with a Goodwrench.
