I chose to run a pair of Carter/Webers on my 54 truck with a modified 1960-235.

My goal, from the onset was to build a "cruiser"...a fairly stock appearing truck that I could use on a daily basis, that would be dependable, economical and most importantly, fun to drive. Recognizing the inherent problems I'd encountered with both Rochester B's and Carter YF's over the years, I planned my build to optimize the strong points of the 235 engine and minimize the components that "seemed" to create problems. Fortunately, Langdon's Stovebolt Engineering Co. offered a carb package that fit my needs. The Carter/Weber carbs, with adaptors, linkage kit and even breathers offered bolt-on reliability with excellent tech support, should it be needed. Fortunately, the install and tuning were simple and the end result is worth every penny. Combined with the low end torque cam, a .72 BW T5, a 3.42 R&P, 29" tall rear tire,and a fuel pressure regulator set at 3.5 psi, my truck happily cruises at 65-70 mph at 1900-2000 rpms and AVERAGES 17.5 mpg. It has not missed a beat in 2500 miles since my engine build, and I don't hesitate to make a 100 mile trip to attend a show.

It's this kind of reliability that has convinced me that the Carter/Weber carb combination should be a viable option for anyone who actually wants to drive their truck.
