I did this in 1978 just to be able to run a 12 volt 100 watt stereo power amplifier and AM/FM cassette head unit.
You will have to read halfway done the post to get to the stereo stuff.
This is a
POST about adding 12 volts to a
6 volt vehicle without converting the whole
vehicles electrical system to 12 volts. While sharing the same ground.
Now only if
Bigtonka could incorporate a pre-amplfier output in the 1949 radio you could send a low voltage
audio signal into the 12 volt power amplifier and still keep the original 6 volt amplifier and speaker as a mono center channel.
