If you want to switch to a Chevy engine, just get a Chevy bellhousing out of Chevy's version of your truck and bolt it right up.
GMC straight six bellhousings match up with Chevy straight six bellhousings of the same decade.
GMC V8 bellhousings of the '50s match up with Buick, Olds, and Pontiac bellhousings of the '50s.
