The 10 bolt I bought came out of a 80 Camaro and the gears were shot. I bought a set of 2.73 on Ebay and after installing them decided I wanted a bit lower ratio so I bought a set of 3.73 gears. I still have them and probably won't ever use them if the 2.73's prove OK. Unless you plan on racing a higher gear set will help with fuel consumption.
And yes the Trans AM is the same width 62".
