Hy Bread, it sounds like this question might be better suited to the high performance forum, but here goes. If you still have the rear crossmember for the engine mounts in place, you could use a bellhousing up to 1953 design, and bolt the engine into place using those stock mounts. That would position the engine in the stock location and allow you to install your fabricated mounts, hope that helps.
