If you decide to drive the balancer on, heat the hub area with a Propane torch until a drop of water sizzles when it's dropped onto the hub, then tap it on quickly with a BFH and a block of hard wood like maple. If the crankshaft is threaded, someone has done it after the fact; none of the inline six cranks were drilled/tapped at the factory.
