another guy many years ago up here in the north converted a big old barn to house/garage. the upper half was his house and the bottom or ground floor was a big shop. he even had enough head room for a hoist in there. pretty cool but it is hard to heat. now he rents it out to young guys so its more of a party place then shop. but extremely cool would have love to rented that back in the day
