OK,
I have a few pictures of the throttle setup on my engine. When I installed the engine in 1973 at the ripe old age of 19, I had to "engineer" something that would work. From what I remember, there was something broken about the original setup with the 216, and the '53 powerglide engine was also different.
Anyway, here is a picture of the fitting at the carb. I don't remember if this is the way the cars were set up or was something I found. Not a simple bent rod, anyway.
Fitting at carburetor. Here is a picture of the carburetor and the throttle cable. The cable is clearly too short, broken off. I guess this is why it was not hooked up. Is it possible to get a new cable and use the original knob? The post on the fitting is really short also, and the hole is small. Not sure it will work.
Throttle cable and fitting. I think the throttle pivit attached to the engine is from the powerglide motor. It seems that there was something wrong with the accelerator rod from the pedal, and I had to braze a piece of all-thread and make up some plumbing parts to get this to work. It was a long time ago.

acellerator pedal rod. Anyway, I would appreciate any comment on what these parts should look like, and any advice about what i might do to get the throttle at the dash to work.
PS, the truck drives great with this setup, as hacked up as it may be.
