I got back at it this evening after a few days off. took the dist. off and rebuilt it and cleaned up my temp. wiring. New points, condenser, cap & rotor. dist. looked fine before but now it looks great. Unfortunately the problem is still the same, no change.
Is there a way to check cam timing without tearing the front of the engine off. Maybe the timing gears skipped.
The truck was running when i got it and had been for many years. It came with the problem I am currently fighting. the old farmer I bought it from used it for rocking his field once a year. I'm guessing he just ran it with the choke on.
53 or 54 Chevy 235 in a 46 GMC.
Intake surface to head is good, new gasket with rings with a light coating of sealer. Same with carb to intake.
Weather has been cold, but today was a heat wave at 40.
