| | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,097 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,097 | It can be done. The stock steering gear has the shaft and the tube incorporated into it. You would have to cut both of them.
You would need to leave enough of the shaft protruding from the steering gear to incorporate a flex joint or rag joint to match the later column. The stock tube also supports the shifter linkage for a 3 speed. If you have an auto trans or floor shifter then this doesn't matter. Another issue is the later column locks with the key switch so you would have to relocate your ignition circuit. You may also need some sort of support bracket on the lower end of the later column if it is not so equipped.
Other than that, nothing to it.
