I put a 94 tilt column in my 53. I bobed the original steering column and milled the shaft flat on 2 sides, it now slides into the end of the 94 column. I secured the two with a #8 bolt and lock nut. I used the original column mount on the dash, used longer beefer bolts and milled the mount a little wider to fit the column. Didn't have to remove much metal. Every thing fits right and steering is about the same. I'm going to bob the shifter short and use the column lock and every thing else on the column. Jerry, I was told buy every one I know not to do that weld, good advise.
