SixPac, are you rebuilding the 230 as a "230"?
I think you can drop a 250 crank in it to stroke it to 3.53" and get some torque. I have driven Chev.'s with both the 250 and 230 and the 230 is a little under-powered. It's a smooth running motor though and tough as nails. I have a buddy who put 500k on a 250 in a '73 Nova before he tore it down
