Thanks guys for all the comments. I have discovered that the lead in at the base of the antenna does not contact the antenna shaft. I destroyed the insulator getting it apart and had to turn a new one. I am assembling it this morning to see if I have fixed it. I hope it works and I can install the radio. I will test everything on the bench before going ahead because the radio install looks like a bear to accomplish and I only want to do it once. It looks like the electric wiper upgrade will not be in the way.
